2008 USATF High Performance International Sprint & Power Meet
and 2008 Utah Junior Olympic Track and Field Meet
Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah
May 23-24, 2008

The High Performance Committee of USA Track and Field has been commissioned by the United States Olympic Committee to maximize the Olympic medal production by the US Olympic Track and Field Team at the 2008 Summer Olympic Games to be held in Beijing, China.  They are supporting two track and field meets.  The sprint and power meet, to be held at Brigham Young University.  This meet will feature the sprint events from 400 meters and down and all field events.

USA Track and Field's High Performance Committee recognizes that the Clarence F Robison Track & Field Complex at Brigham Young University is a world class track and field venue.  The facility is second to none in the world.  The track is constructed using Mondo's lightning fast Super X surface on nine 42 inch lanes that have been engineered for speed.  (Mondo Super X is the surface used at the US Olympic Trials in Sacramento and the 2004 Olympic Stadium in Athens.)  The track is designed with wide turns set at a radius of 36.3 meters.  Each straightaway is equipped with FAT timing to ensure that sprint races are always run with the wind.  Five EtherLynx 2000 digital imaging cameras by FinishLynx are utilized to provide FAT timing accurate to 1/1000 of a second.  Provo, Utah is located at an altitude of 4627 feet (1411meters).  The thinner air provides less resistance for sprinters and field event implements.  Read what an expert has to say about the venue.  The stadium records at the Clarence Robison Complex attest that quality marks are established here.   Men's Stadium Records   Women's Stadium Records.

The 2008 Sprint and Power Meet will be held in conjunction with the 2008 Utah Junior Olympic Track and Field Meet.  The stadium will be filled with excited and enthusiastic track and field athletes and fans!  We have been in communication with a number of Canadian coaches and athletes that have expressed excitement about this competition.  They will be on-hand.
