Meet Information
as of 05/02/2009

Parking - Bus parking on Friday is in lot 45, to the west of the football stadium. Bus parking on Saturday is in both lot 45 to the west and lot 48 to the south of the football stadium. Buses should not block traffic when they park.

Team Packets - Coaches must pick up their team packet and make payment at that time. Check-in will be in the southwest corner of the lot 48, south of the football stadium.  Team packets will contain a wrist band for each athlete.  The athletes will need the wrist band to be able to gain entrance to the meet.

Registration - All registration will be done on-line.  Click on the registration link at the top or the bottom of this page.  Registration will close for the meet at 11:59 p.m., MDT, Monday, April 27th.  Please update your team roster so that all information is correct.  If you do not have an account on RunnerCard, click on the Help link for a list of steps.  If you do not have the Meet Access Code, please contact Doug Padilla.

Results - Results will be posted throughout the meet at the link above and on the boards behind the main grandstand.

Scoring  The meet will be scored 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

Awards - Top three athletes in individual events receive medals.  Top eight athletes in individual events receive award t-shirts.  Top three teams in relays receive medals and award t-shirts.  We will be holding on-field Awards Ceremonies after each final.  Each athlete that finishes in the top 8 in any individual event will immediately be escorted to the awards peristyle.  Results will be read and the athletes will be recognized.  The top eight athletes will receive an award t-shirt.  The top three athletes will receive medals.  We are bringing back the classic BYU Invitational medal, designed specifically for the invitational and presented during the 1980s.  Awards will be presented promptly, allowing athletes to be available for additional competitions.  We recognize that there is the possibility that because of protests, results could change after awards are presented.  We feel that the benefits of a timely awards ceremony are sufficient to accept the risk of possibly holding a corrected awards ceremony later on. We will also be recognizing the top male and female, track, and field athlete each day as the Outstanding Athlete, making 8 total athletes that will be honored.

Entry Fees - Meet entry fees are $5 per registered athlete.

Entry limitations - Each team will be allowed to enter athletes up to 24 participations per gender, not counting the 3200 meters or the relays.  Each athlete may enter in up to 4 events, including relays.  All athletes must have met the qualification standards this season.

Relays - The top 9 relay teams by performance in each classification will be admitted into each relay.

3200 Meters - The top 10 athletes in each classification will be invited into the 3200.

Implement Weigh-in - Implement weigh-in will be in the bull pen on Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. and Saturday from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  After weigh-in, implements will be impounded until the competition.

Track - The BYU track stadium is a world-class facility, constructed with the state-of-the-art Mondo Super X surface.  Track radius is 52 meters, providing for short straights and wide turns.

Spikes - Only 9 mm pyramid spikes are allowed.  No Christmas trees.  No needles.

Check-In - Check-in is required of all athletes.  Check-in can take place at any time during the day up until that event is called.  Do not be late.  Athletes that do not check in will be scratched and will not be allowed to compete.   If a competitor in a field event needs to be excused to compete in a running event, permission from the field event judge must be obtained.  The competitor shall then have up to 15 minutes to return to the field event, unless the event is a final.  The games committee strongly recommends that the athlete competing in the conflicting running and field events use a proxy to check in at the running Bull Pen to obtain hip numbers.  When it is time to run, permission from the field event judge is needed to leave the field event competition and compete in their running event.

Spectator Admission - Admission is $5 per person.  Children 3 and under are free.

Hotels - These local hotels have offered special rates for the meet.  Provo Marriott-$79-Mike Rener-801-377-4700, Springhill Suites-$109-Brent Newbry-801-373-2222, Fairfield Inn-$119-Dave Lewis-801-277-9500.

Warm-up - The grass field and track surface to the north of the track are available for warm-up.  There will be no warm-up on the track.

Parking - There is no parking available inside the track stadium.  Please park in the lots to the west or the south of the football stadium.

Questions - if you have questions about the meet, please contact Doug Padilla, 801-422-1295.
